A genuine, antique, room-size, hand-knotted, Persian rug adds color, warmth, and timeless charm and to complement any decor style.
This beautiful floor artwork features a bold, repeating geometric design, said to represent an elephant foot ("fil pai"). The design is rendered in a warm, harmonious range of reds, blues, teal, brown and more. A 6-inch wide, colorful band of kilim (flatweave) frames the rug at both ends, separating the end fringe from the main knotted pile area of the carpet.
Weavers of the Ersari Turkoman tribe diligently hand knotted this rug, c. 1900, in the region near the Iran-Afghanistan border.
The rug is in fair-to-good antique condition. The design and colors show beautifully. It shows some worn areas, but the wear adds to the piece's bohemian charm.
